  • Who am I?

    Who am I?

    I am a metallurgist cum chemist with an interest in problem-solving in the material and metal extraction fields. I have specific interest in the development of novel, sustainable methods of metals extraction from low-grade ores and wastes and waste utilisation.

    Why do I teach?

    Global resources of various metals are reaching critically low levels and the necessity of developing new sustainable methods to extract these critical metals from different resources is essential for technology advancement to continue. By being involved in this exciting new direction for metallurgists, I find it imperative to transfer this new knowledge to the scientists/researchers of the future.

    Why study Waste transformation & utilisation, Metallurgy, Materials Science (Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Treatment)?

    Global challenges force us to study the drivers behind these challenges and the impact it has on ecosystems, the economy, and the human race. At the core of most of the solutions to these challenges, you will find that materials are playing a role somewhere in the chain of events/processes. By studying waste transformation and utilisation, you will be investigating new and novel methods of extracting precious and critical metals from waste, using one or two-step processes, in a quest to provide these commodities for further material development in a sustainable way.
