Professor Kevin Peter Homewood's main research interests are optical emission, optical amplifiers and mid-infrared rare earth ion injection silicon detectors. The field of photoelectric materials and devices has achieved fruitful results and has a great academic impact. Professor Homewood was a researcher at the University of Manchester in 1977, received his PhD in 1981 and then a researcher at the University of Hull. He joined Shelley University in 1984, was named associate professor in 1994 and promoted to professor in 1999. He has published 220 scientific papers, including two Nature papers, with a single citation rate of up to 1,000 times. The total funding for supporting and participating projects is £21 million, and recent projects include the Senior fellow project from the European Research Council (ERC) and two ERC proof of concept follow-up projects. In 2015, he won the famous Brien Mercer Innovation Award of the Royal Society. In 2017, he was appointed as a distinguished professor of our school. He joined the research group and carried out research work. In 2020, it won the Chime Bell Award issued by Hubei Provincial People's Government. Homewood Professor often participates in the project evaluation of the Royal Society, the European Research Council and other domestic and foreign funds. Currently, he also serves as a member and evaluation of many international and intergovernmental organizations such as the Royal Society and the European Research Council.
